I'm so excited to share this project for multiple reasons. The first reason is that I'm so proud of getting back into our garage to work on a project. I LOVE working on projects but since I've been pregnant for basically the last 2 years I haven't really wanted to work on projects. I was SOOO tired in my pregnancies that I could barely summon the energy to get out of bed everyday, let alone do all the work that goes into any build. It felt so good to be back in the shop and working on something. I always am so proud when I finish a project. To make something come to life with your own two hands is an incredible feeling. And this project was something that meant a lot to me.

When I found out I was having a baby girl, I was honestly nervous. We already have a boy but it wasn't the baby stage I was worried about. It's so dang hard to be a girl these days. I think back in my childhood and I felt so much grief over my body all the time and the pressure I felt to fit in. I was more of a tom boy and didn't enjoy "normal" girl stuff. So I always felt like I didn't belong. I bet you were expecting this sod story when you clicked on a link to learn about how I built this bookshelf!!! I'm getting to the point, don't you worry. It wasn't until I was an adult did I learn that I am perfect just the way I am and gender "norms" are BS. There is something special about getting to tell my sweet daughter that her mom built her a bookshelf. If I can do it, she can do anything! See... we got there.

I'm working on putting together a digital download that will have the step by step guide on building this bookshelf for your own home! Let me know what you think!

I know what you are thinking... what is this want to be fashion blogger doing sharing home decor? The truth is that I LOVEEEE home stuff. I love painting. I love building furniture. I love creating things. Don't be surprised if you see a lot of home content from me.

When we purchased our home last year, we knew we had no need for our formal dining room. There was a casual dining space off the kitchen and living room that was big enough to put a long table to seat 8. There isn't an occasion where we'd have more than 8 people over, and if we did, we'd likely be outside. So we knew we'd want to transform the formal dining room into a playroom for the kids.

Since its the first room you see when you walk into our house, and it will be messy all the time - just keeping it real here - then I thought maybe I could distract your eyes from our messy house with a mural. Look I'm not super artsy, and I needed this mural to be easy. I don't have time to measure things out. Nor tape things out. I loved the idea of brush strokes. So I picked up a quart of paint at my local store and a large paint brush. I simply dipped the paint and then did a half circle. I just did them about 6 inches apart from each other starting at different points. Angling them at different points made the haphazardness of it all seem planned.

Once I got the paint brush mural on the wall, I wanted to add a large PLAY sign. Using 1X6's and a miter saw, I used the below plans (doubled) and screwed everything together. I used command strips to hang them.

Would you be interested in a video tutorial on the mural and/or the play sign? Let me know in the comment section below.

There are a few new faces around here and I realized I haven’t formally introduced myself. First - WELCOME! I’m so glad you are here.

I’m a mama to two sweet little babies. I’m married to my best friend, we just celebrated our 6 year wedding anniversary! My mom and his dad worked for the same company. We met through friends and it was an instant connection because our parents worked together. I had just moved to Illinois, and I didn't know anyone! My husband was born and raised in Illinois but had gone to Florida every year since he was a kid for summer break. After a few years of dating, it was a no brainer for us to move to Florida since we both love it here! I was born and raised in Florida - I LOVE the beach.

*Trigger warning ED mentioned* I hate bell peppers... well actually you'd probably label me as a pretty picky eater but I've struggled with disordered eating in my past, so I just try to focus on eating things I enjoy. Which sounds so silly to some, but if you have struggled with food than you know what I'm talking about. Maybe someday I will talk more about my journey. I have PCOS. I wasn't diagnosed until I struggled getting pregnant with my son. I was practically born plus size. It was so rough growing up because my sister is tiny. We got so much crap because we were soooo different. But now as an adult I LOVE being tall. I’m 5’10 (and you can clearly see my feet are GIANT) and have been anywhere from a size 10-20 for as long as I can remember.

I started my instagram as a personal page, a way to share life updates with friends and family, but I found myself answering messages asking where I got that top or these shoes more than anything! It didn’t surprise me too much because I’ve had this same experience in real life. In real life, its a normal occurrence for someone to approach me asking where my outfit was from. I thought it was totally normal until I was with a friend at dinner and I had 3 different people approached me to ask me where my dress was from. My friend’s reaction told me that maybe this wasn’t normal for everyone like it has been for me. Not only did I tell those people where to get the dress, I told them how to get it at a great price and gave them a few recommends on how to style it for their bodies. I truly love helping people look and feel their best!! That’s what I hope to do with this platform. Thank you all for being here! 💕💕💕
